The Annual Order of the Garter Service and Ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle has been cancelled for 2017. It will be the first time since 1948 that the Service hasn’t taken place. Click HERE to read about last year’s Garter Service.

King Willem-Alexander, Queen Maxima, the Princess of Orange, Princess Alexia and Princess Ariane of the Netherlands attend the celebration of King’s Day (Koningsdag) in the municipality of Tilburg, in the heart of Brabant, on April 27th. King’s Day (Koningsdag), a Bank Holiday in the Netherlands, celebrates King Willem-Alexander’s 50th Birthday.
King Willem-Alexander’s 40th Birthday Dinner, 2007
Happy Birthday to King Willem-Alexander, who turns 50 today. Though the King and Royal family will spend today in Tilburg, they will host a dinner in honour of the King’s 50th birthday at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam, for 150 guests that have the same birthday as the King, on the 28th. The Wedding of Princess Alexandra of Kent and the Hon. Angus Ogilvy, son of the Earl of Airlie at Westminster Abbey on this day in 1963 . The only daughter of Prince George, Duke of Kent and Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, Princess Alexandra is the only paternal female cousin of Queen Elizabeth II, and so her Wedding was a major State Occasion, including a Ball at Windsor Castle, with a King and eight Queens among Royal Guests and Relatives in attendance, many more than at the Wedding of Princess Margaret three years previously.
