Norwegian Constitution Day 2023

The Norwegian Royal Family celebrated Constitution Day, the National Day of Norway, on May 17th by greeting the annual Children’s Parade in Asker from Skaugum (residence of the Crown Princely family) and another from the balcony of the Royal Palace of Oslo. Princess Ingrid Alexandra is part of the graduating class this year, and was thus celebrating with her classmates and friends and not joining the Royal Family to greet the Children’s Parades.

Princess Elizabeth in Paris, 1948

Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh went on an Official Visit to Paris on this day in 1948, 75 years ago, which was their first Official Visit abroad after their Wedding, celebrating the Entente Cordiale after the Second World War. The first Royal Visit to Paris since the landmark Royal Visit of 1939, this visit in 1948 was followed by the Queen’s State Visits to France in 1957, 1972, 1992, 2004, and 2014.

Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands, 1993

Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands hosted King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola of Belgium on their State Visit to The Netherlands on this day in 1993, which was the last State Visit of King Baudouin’s Reign just a few months before his death. This was the first Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands since 1959, with most recent Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands in 2016.

Italian State Visit to Norway

The Norwegian Royal Family are hosting Italian President Sergio Mattarella and his daughter, Laura Mattarella, who are on a State Visit to Norway on May 11th and 12th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties following the last Norwegian State Visit to Italy in 2016King Harald V is in Hospital, so Crown Prince Regent Haakon is hosting the State Visit on the King’s behalf.

Queen of Malaysia presents Malaysian Heritage Crafts

This week, Queen Azizah of Malaysia is holding ‘Abstract Nature’, an interactive exhibition that highlights traditional Malaysian Heritage Crafts and Techniques at the Malaysian High Commission in London as part of London Craft Week. We were lucky enough to visit the Exhibition earlier this week, where Queen Azizah described how this exhibition showcases Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage through its exquisite craft traditions, while also highlighting Her Majesty’s social and charitable patronages.
