The Norwegian Royal Family are celebrating Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway’s 50th Birthday with a Celebration at the Royal Palace of Oslo on August 25th, which is their 22nd Wedding Anniversary.

The 50th Birthday Celebration began with the Crown Prince and Crown Princess receiving 380 Guests inside the Royal Palace of Oslo, with the Crown Prince giving a Speech and a Performance in the Palace Ballroom. The Guests were people the Crown Prince Couple met through their many visits and patronages – in addition to representatives from around Norway.

Following the Performance and Speech, the Royal Family and Guests went to a ‘Backyard Party’ in the Slottsgården of the Royal Palace of Oslo, where 48 tables have been set up. Queen Sonja, Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and Prince Sverre Magnus gave speeches.

A rather dull celebration of such an important milestone of the next King of Norway in my humble opinion. This could have been one of several celebrations if this is how they wanted to gather more national guests, but I still think that a banquet with Royals from around the world would have been very apropriate for such a special day. Luckily you added some photos of how it should have looked like with tiaras on display! 🙂
