Danish and Norwegian Openings of Parliament 2023

The Danish and Norwegian Royal Families both presided over their Openings of Parliament in Copenhagen and Oslo on October 3rd, which we are combining into one article, which highlights the differences between the two ceremonies.

King Harald V of Norway (wearing the Order of St. Olav and the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit) was joined by Queen Sonja and Crown Prince Haakon, as he presided over the Formal Opening of the 169th session of the Storting (Parliament) and delivered a speech from the Norwegian Throne at the Stortingsbygningen in Oslo.

In Denmark, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark was joined by Crown Prince Frederik, Crown Princess Mary, and Princess Benedikte as they attended the opening session of the Danish Parliament (Folketinget) at the Parliament Hall (Folketingssalen) of Christiansborg Palace in Copenhagen. The Royal Family have no active role during the ceremony and thus observed the proceedings from the Royal Box.
