Today marks the 70th Anniversary of the Wedding of Prince Rainier III of Monaco and American Actress Grace Kelly, who got married on this day in 1956! Among the hundreds of wedding gifts, Princess Grace received several magnificent jewels!
While the wedding gown and trousseau were gifts from MGM Studios, the Prince and Princess received a Rolls Royce from the citizens of Monaco, as well as a Yacht from Aristotle Onassis, with the most magnificent gifts being the jewels given to the new Princess.

The spectacular Bains de Mer Tiara was created by Cartier from a ruby and diamond necklace presented to Princess Grace ahead of her wedding by the Société des Bains de Mer, one of the largest companies in Monaco, which is partially owned by the Princely Family.

In the days leading up to their Wedding, Prince Rainier also presented this Van Cleef & Arpels Sapphire and Diamond Brooch to Grace Kelly which was composed of a cluster of sapphires that reportedly belonged to Maria Caterina Salѐ, a wealthy Genoese Heiress married to Prince Honoré III of Monaco in the 18th century.

A Diamond Bangle of brilliant and baguette diamonds was created by Cartier in Paris in 1955, and was acquired by ‘Organismes Monégasques’ to be given as a wedding gift.
