While she wore a bunch of grand jewels throughout her life, this Diamond Tiara and her Bains de Mer Tiara were Princess Grace’s only two tiaras that she personally owned, and the Diamond Tiara was her most frequently worn tiara, seen at Banquets, Balls, and Weddings throughout her decades as the Princess of Monaco, including her last National Day Gala in 1981, just a few months before her untimely death the following year, when it passed into the ‘Palais Princier Collection’.

In 1978, Princess Grace loaned her Diamond Tiara to her elder daughter, Princess Caroline, for the Ball held at the Prince’s Palace ahead of her first wedding. That was the only and only time Princess Caroline wore the Tiara, and it has not been worn since Princess Grace’s death, though it has been exhibited numerous times over the decades.
