Around 2006, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa rediscovered this Turquoise Tiara and antique Turquoise Necklace in the Grand Ducal Vaults, was given to the curator of the Grand Ducal Collection to be restored and made more wearable. The Jewels date from the 1830s, and the Tiara itself looks much more like a converted comb, which is probably its true purpose.
Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wore the newly restored Turquoise Tiara and small Necklace in public for the first time, pairing them with the new earrings at a State Banquet held for the President of Finland in late 2008.
Two years later, Princess Tessy wore the Turquoise Tiara and Earrings for the National Day Gala in 2010.
In 2018, the Turquoise Tiara was worn by Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie with the antique Turquoise and Diamond Necklace for the Luxembourg National Day Gala in 2018.
The following year, Princess Alexandra wore the Turquoise Tiara with the smaller necklace for the National Day Gala at the Palais Grand Ducal. There is no doubt we will continue to see this spectacular heirloom for years to come!
