After 19 years together Prince Gustav of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg married Carina Axelsson yesterday.
They had been prevented from marrying by stipulations in his grandfather's 1939 will that were overturned by the courts last year.

The Prince of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, son of Princess Benedikte of Denmark and Prince Richard of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg, has married his partner, Carina Axelsson (wearing the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Diamond Spike Tiara), in a Religious Ceremony in the Chapel at Schloss Berleburg on June 4th, following a Civil Ceremony. Prince Gustav is the nephew of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and Queen Anne-Marie of Greece, and the couple had been unable to marry due to the stipulations of his grandfather’s will, but Carina had been accepted as a member of the family for decades.

A little declasse for a guest to snap pictures for social media.
Oh, my goodness! I was so enthused with the Platinum Jubilee events in the UK that this wonderful event went completely under my radar! And what a wonderful event it was! I am so chuffed that they were finally able to marry. In a way they remind me of Prince Bertil and Princess Lilian of Sweden. They, too, couldn’t marry for years. But, just like in the case of the Swedish couple, love is more powerful that anything. Here they are, finally officially united! I wish them all the best in the world. May they enjoy many, many years of wedded bliss!
