They were received by the Royal Family at Christian VII’s Palace, Amalienborg. The Presidential couple and the Queen attended an event at The Black Diamond in Copenhagen. Happy Birthday to Princess Caroline of Monaco and Hanover, who turns 60 today. The daughter of Prince Ranier II and the famous Princess Grace of Monaco, Princess Caroline is the sister of Prince Albert II, and was heiress presumptive to her brother until recently. Married three times, Princess Caroline has four children, and is currently separated from her third husband, Prince Ernst August of Hanover. As the ‘First lady’ of Monaco from 1982 to 2011, Princess Caroline was the only wearer of the family tiaras, at home and at foreign royal events. Happy Birthday to Queen Mathilde of Belgium, who turns 44 today. The daughter of Belgian and Polish Nobility, Mathilde married Prince Philippe, Duke of Brabant (then heir to the Belgian throne) in 1999. The couple have four children, and succeeded to the Belgian Throne in 2014, after the abdication of her father-in-law, King Albert II. Queen Mathilde carries out official duties, representing Belgium at home and abroad, and is patron to many charities and organisations. Hohenzollern Clover Coronet
Happy Birthday to Princess Birgitta of Sweden and Hohenzollern who turns 80 today! The daughter of Prince Gustaf Adolf and Princess Sibylla of Sweden, Princess Birgitta is the sister of King Carl XVI Gustaf and the second of the four ‘Haga Princesses’. She is also the first cousin of Queen Margrethe of Denmark and Queen Anne Marie of Greece. In 1961, she married Prince Johann Georg of Hohenzollern, son of the Prince of Hohenzollern, in a civil ceremony in Sweden and a religious ceremony in her grooms native Germany. The couple had three children but separated in 1990, while continuing to attend Royal events together. Princess Birgitta was widowed in March 2016. She lives in Spain. Since we have already featured her Pearl Circle Tiara, in honour of her birthday, we are featuring one of her Wedding Tiaras, the Hohenzollern Clover Coronet. Continue reading
