Royal Guests from around the world joined the Greek Royal Family for the the Funeral of King Constantine II of Greece at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Athens at noon on January 16th, which will be followed by the Burial in the Royal Cemetery at Tatoi Palace. The former King Constantine II was an Olympic Gold Medalist before becoming the Sovereign for nine years and then being exiled for over 40 years, returning to Greece only a decade ago. King Gustaf VI Adolf of Sweden hosted his granddaughter, Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, and Prince Henrik on their State Visit to Sweden on this day in 1973 (50 years ago), which was the first outgoing State Visit of Queen Margrethe’s Reign, exactly a year after her accession and two months after the couple attended King Gustaf VI Adolf’s 90th Birthday Celebrations, as well as the last State Visit of King Gustaf VI Adolf’s Reign just a few months before he passed away.

Today marks the 55th Anniversary of the Death of Princess Maria Francisca of Orléans-Braganza, the Duchess of Braganza who passed away on this day in 1968. The daughter of Prince Pedro de Alcântara, the Heir Apparent to the Brazilian Imperial Throne, who renounced his succession rights to marry a Czech Countess, Elisabeth Dobrzensky of Dobrzenicz, Maria Francisca was a younger sister of the Countess of Paris and Prince Pedro Gastão. In 1942, she married Duarte Nuno of Braganza, a Pretender to the defunct Portuguese Throne, so to mark the occasion, we are featuring her versatile Diamond Bandeau!
