Queen’s Awards for Enterprise Reception at Windsor Castle
The entire British Royal Family and some special Foreign Royal Guests attended the Ceremonial Royal Funeral of HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on April 17th. The oldest and longest serving Consort to the longest-reigning Monarch in British History, the Duke passed away peacefully last week at Windsor Castle a few months before his 100th Birthday, and was heavily involved in the planning of his own Funeral, though they have been modified due to the ongoing Pandemic.
Today marks the anniversary of the Death of Grand Duchess Elena Vladimirovna, Princess Nicholas of Greece, the only daughter of Grand Duke Vladimir Alexandrovich of Russia and Duchess Marie of Mecklenburg-Schwerin who married Prince Nicholas of Greece and became the mother of Princess Paul of Yugoslavia, Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, and Princess Elisabeth, Countess of Törring-Jettenbach. Today marks the Anniversary of the Death of Sir Angus Ogilvy, who passed away on this day in 2004, the day after his wife Princess Alexandra’s Birthday. To mark the anniversary, we are taking a look at one of the most prominent gifts from the late Sir Angus to Princess Alexandra, her Golden Jubilee Necklace.
Today marks the 180th Anniversary of the Birth of Victoria, Princess Royal and Empress Frederik, the eldest daughter of Queen Victoria who married Emperor Frederik of Germany and was the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm II, so to mark the anniversary, we are taking a look at Empress Frederick’s Pearl Corsage Brooch, almost identical to a Brooch being auctioned at Christie’s in 2022.
The Queen hosted her annual Christmas Lunch for members of the extended British Royal Family at Buckingham Palace on December 18th. This lunch is held for those family members who aren’t invited to spend Christmas with the Queen at Sandringham in Norfolk, due to lack of space. Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 8th. They rode in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a flypast on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. Continue reading
The Queen and members of the Royal Family are hosting the President of the United States of America, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump during their State Visit to the United Kingdom from June 3rd to June 5th. This is the third American State Visit, coming after the Queen had tea with the Trumps at Windsor Castle last year. Continue reading
The Queen hosted the second annual Garden Party of 2019 at Buckingham Palace on May 21st. There are four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others. Members of the British Royal Family attended a series of events marking the centenary of the Royal Air Force in London on July 10th, with a service in Westminster Abbey, followed by a parade in The Mall and spectacular flypast over Buckingham Palace.
