King’s Dinner for Nobel Laureates

The extended Swedish Royal Family have joined King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden as he awards the Nobel Prizes at the annual Ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall in Stockholm on December 10th. Afterwards, the Swedish Royal Family will attend the glittering Nobel Banquet at the Stockholm City Hall. The Noble Peace Prizes are awarded in Oslo, in a ceremony with the Norwegian Royal Family in attendance.
Happy Birthday to Princess Sofia of Sweden, Duchess of Värmland who turns 38th Birthday! The accomplished former model who is the only daughter-in-law of King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Princess Sofia has worn several splendid heirlooms from the Swedish Royal Collection, but her primary jewel is her spectacular Wedding Tiara!
The Swedish Royal Family hosted the Riksdagssupé (Parliament Dinner) at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on the evening of November 29th. After each parliamentary election, the King and Queen traditionally invite the new members of parliament, the government and representatives of the Riksdag’s leadership to a dinner and concert, with the last one held in 2019. Today marks the 50th Anniversary of the Death of Princess Sibylla of Sweden, who passed away on this day in 1972! The Saxe-Coburg and Gotha Princess who married the Swedish Heir that died tragically young, leaving her to raise five children including the current King Carl XVI Gustaf, the Princess wore some spectacular jewels, but the one we’ve been waiting to feature is the Swedish Aquamarine Kokoshnik Tiara!
King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden are on a State Visit to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan at the invitation of King Abdullah II and Queen Rania of Jordan, almost two decades after the Jordanian State Visit to Sweden in 2003, and more than three decades after the last Swedish State Visit to Jordan.
Today marks the 145th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Désirée/Desideria of Sweden, who was born on this day in 1777! The daughter of a silk manufacturer and merchant who was a former fiancée of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte before marrying his leading general, who became King Charles XIV John of Sweden, making her the first Bernadotte Queen of Sweden. Happy Birthday to Countess Camilla of Rosenborg, who turns 50 today, along with her twin sister Countess Josephine of Rosenborg! The daughters of the cousin of Queen Margrethe II, the Countesses may be far removed from the Danish Throne now but had circumstances been different, they would have been the nieces or even daughters of Kings, and thus posses some illustrious heirlooms, including Queen Desiree’s Ears of Wheat Tiara!

Energy transition, sustainability, the life sciences and smart mobility are central themes of the State Visit with shared values and cooperation on innovative solutions for the challenges of today and the future.

The only daughter of Prince Carl Bernadotte and Countess Elsa von Rosen, she is the first cousin of King Harald V of Norway, King Baudouin of Belgium, King Albert II of Belgium, and Grand Duchess Joséphine Charlotte of Luxembourg.
