Norwegian State Visit to Denmark, 1948

King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid of Denmark hosted his uncle, King Haakon VII of Norway, on his third and last State Visit to Denmark on this day in 1948. Born Prince Carl of Denmark, King Haakon previously visited his parents on a State Visit in 1906 and then his brother and sister-in-law on a State Visit in 1913, while the State Visit in 1948 was the first of the King Frederik’s Reign.

Greek State Visit to Thailand, 1963

King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand hosted King Paul, Queen Frederica and Princess Irene of Greece on their State Visit to Thailand on this day in 1963, which followed the Greek State Visit to India. While there were no other State Visits between the two Royal Families, since Greece was not included during King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit’s Tour of Europe in 1960, the Thai King and Queen went to Greece the following year for the Wedding of King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Anne Marie of Denmark.
