Of unknown provenance, this antique diamond choker, composed of a series of chain-links, started to be worn by Princess Gina in the 1950s, often paired with multi-ringed diamond earrings and the Hapsburg Fringe Tiara.

From the 1950s and 1970s, Princess Gina frequently paired the Diamond Choker with her Diamond Earrings and Diamond Brooch, and usually the Habsburg Fringe Tiara.

In 1960, Princess Gina converted her Diamond Choker into a Bandeau for a State Visit to Pope John XXIII at the Vatican.

The Diamond Earrings, Diamond Brooch and Diamond Choker were worn by Princess Gina at the Wedding of Prince Juan Carlos of Spain and Princess Sofia of Greece in 1962.

Princess Gina also paired the Choker with the Habsburg Fringe Tiara for the Wedding Ball of King Constantine II of Greece and Princess Anne Marie of Denmark at the Royal Palace of Athens in 1964.

A few years later, the Diamond Choker was worn by Princess Gina with the  Habsburg Fringe, Diamond Earrings and Diamond Brooch for the Wedding Ball of Prince Hans-Adam II of Liechtenstein and Countess Marie Kinsky von Wchinitz und Tettau at Schloss Vaduz in 1967.

Princess Gina also wore the Diamond Choker with the Habsburg Fringe Tiara and Diamond Earrings for a series of Official Portraits in the early 1970s.

Princess Gina also paired the Diamond Brooch with the Habsburg Fringe Tiara for the Banquet marking 2,500 years of the Persian Empire in Persepolis in 1971.

The Diamond Choker was worn with the Habsburg Fringe Tiara and Diamond Earrings for the Wedding Ball of Princess Marie Antoinette von Fürstenberg and Count Johannes of Schoenborn Wiesentheid in 1977.

Princess Gina also wore the Diamond Choker as a Bracelet on occasion, but unlike her various other jewels, which have been worn by her daughter or daughter-in-law, the fate of Princess Gina’s Diamond Choker remains unknown  but let’s hope it reappears again soon!
