German State Visit to Spain

King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain are hosting German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender on a State Visit to Spain to strengthen political, economic, and diplomatic ties, from November 26th to the 28th, following the Spanish State Visit to Germany in 2022.

In the morning, King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia officially welcomed German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and First Lady Elke Büdenbender in an Official Welcome Ceremony in the courtyard of the Royal Palace in Madrid. During the ceremony, the King and President reviewed a battalion of the Royal Guard and viewed a parade.

The Queen and First Lady held a working meeting in the Gallery of Royal Collections on women and equality in Spain. Later, the King and Queen hosted a luncheon for President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the First Lady at the Palace of La Zarzuela, following a meeting between the King and the President.

In the evening, King Felipe and Queen Letizia held a State Banquet in honour of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and the First Lady at the Royal Palace of Madrid. Both the King and President gave speeches.

Queen Letizia is wearing Queen Victoria Eugenie’s Cartier Pearl Tiara and Diamond Earrings with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
