The accomplished Croatian Aristocrat who became the daughter-in-law of the Duke and Duke of Kent and the first member of the British Royal Family to marry at the Vatican, Lady Nicholas has worn this striking Sapphire Necklace Tiara!
This striking ‘Sapphire’ (which is more probably Lapis Lazuli) and Diamond Necklace Tiara is of unknown provenance but it may be an heirloom of the Frankopan or de Lupis Family.
The Sapphire and Diamond Necklace was promaintnly worn by the then Princess Paola Doimi de Lupis Frankopan Šubić Zrinski when she accompanied Lord Nicholas Windsor to attend a St Petersburg Ball in London in 2003.
In 2009, the now Lady Nicholas Windsor sewed the Sapphire Necklace into her Hair for the Wedding Gala of Hereditary Prince Hubertus of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha and Kelly Rondestvedt at Schloss Callenberg, the main Coburg residence of the House of Saxe-Coburg und Gotha.
A few years later, Lady Nicholas Windsor wore a Tiara created by Jeweller Andrew Prince for the Wedding Ball of the Prince of Prussia and Princess Sophie of Isenburg in 2011. The Tiara had also been worn by Dame Maggie Smith playing the Dowager Countess in Season Three of Downton Abbey.
