ITV’s new documentary ‘The Queen Unseen’, features interviews and personal stories from those who know the the Queen and have worked alongside her, including Lady Glenconner, showing her as a wife, mother, animal lover, cook, farmer and comedian, lifting the mask royalty brings to show who she really is. It also includes rare footage from througout her life, most notably from Christmas Day in New Zealand in 1953, during the 6-month Commonwealth Tour. This is one of a series of documentaries, following ‘My Years with the Queen‘, being released ahead of the Queen’s 95th Birthday this month.
Note: Documentaries like these are usually only available for a few days before being deleted, and while we do tend to continually update with new videos, it is recommended that you watch the programme as soon as possible.
The footage was shot in 1953 on a cinematic camera by Patrica Norrie, wife of New Zealand Governor General.
