Happy Birthday to Princess Antonia, Duchess of Wellington, who turns 65 today! The daughter of Prince Frederick of Prussia, a grandson of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and Lady Brigid Guinness, daughter of the 2nd Earl of Iveagh, Princess Antonia of Prussia grew up in Britain and at Reinhartshausen Castle in Germany, being educated at Cobham Hall School and King’s College London. In 1977, Princess Antonia married the Marquess of Douro, the Heir of the 8th Duke of Wellington. The couple have five children and succeeded to the Dukedom in 2015, also making her the Duchess of Ciudad Rodrigo in Spain, the Princess of Waterloo in Belgium and The Netherlands, and the Duchess of Victoria in Portugal in addition to being the Duchess of Wellington. The Duke and Duchess reside at the family seat of Stratfield Saye House in Hampshire, and also retain an apartment at Apsley House in London, in addition to the La Torre estate in Granada. The Duchess was awarded the OBE in the 2008 Birthday Honours for services to social housing as President of the Guinness Trust and was also elected a Fellow of Eton College. She was so gorgeous in that black dress!
There’s pictures of her wearing it in the 90s too, so even more props to her!
Is she an HRH or does the House of Hohenzollern have rules regarding unequal marriages similar to the House of Romanov?
