Princess Anne, the only daughter of Princess Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh, was christened by the Archbishop of York in the Music Room of Buckingham Palace.
The Princess wore the royal christening robe, of Honiton lace lined with white satin, made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria’s eldest daughter, Victoria, Princess Royal.

Princess Anne’s godparents were: Princess Alice of Greece (grandmother, represented by Princess Alice, Countess of Athlone), Earl Mountbatten of Burma (uncle of the Duke of Edinburgh), Princess Margarita,Princess of Hohenlohe-Langenburg (sister of the Duke of Edinburgh), and The Hon. Andrew Elphinstone (cousin of Princess Elizabeth, who later officiated at Princess Anne’s first wedding).
