Princess Diana’s Aquamarine Earrings

August 31st will mark the 20th Anniversary of the death of Diana, Princess of Wales, one of the most iconic women of the last century. In honour of her death anniversary, we are featuring 20 of her most iconic jewels. Today’s feature is her aquamarine and diamond earrings-

When the Prince and Princess of Wales attended the Cannes Film Festival, the star of the show was her pale blue chiffon Catherine Walker gown and wrap, but the feature of her outfit were large aquamarines hanging from a diamond cluster.

Later that year, the earrings were worn at a Banquet in Munich with the Spencer Tiara.

In 1989, the earrings were worn with another Catherine Walker gown for a Moulin Rouge Performance at the Savoy Hotel in London.

The earrings were also worn for a Reception at the Municipal Theatre of Rio, during a 1991 Tour of Brazil.

The last recorded appearance of the large aquamarine earrings was at a dinner during a 1996 visit to Italy (thanks @Davidls6). Their current location is unknown, but they probably belong to the Duke of Cambridge or Prince Harry.
