Danish New Year’s Levée 2019

After being escorted by the Gardehusarregimentets Hesteskorte in the famous Guldkareten, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, joined by Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary, hosted a New Year’s Levée for Officers from the Defence, the Danish Emergency Management Agency, Invited Representatives of large National Organizations, and royal patronage, at Christiansborg Palace on January 4th. This comes after the Queen hosted a New Year’s Reception on the 1st and another Levée on the 3rd.

Queen Margrethe in Iceland

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark visited Iceland on the 1st of December, to mark the 100th anniversary of Iceland’s Independence from the Kingdom of Denmark. Until 1944, Iceland remained in a Federation with Denmark as ‘the Kingdom of Iceland’ (the Queen received the Icelandic name of Þórhildur when she was born in 1940), when it declared itself a Republic. The Danish Royal Family hosted the President and First Lady last year and attended a Concert to mark the Centenary in October. Continue reading
