Queen Margrethe in Iceland

Queen Margrethe II of Denmark visited Iceland on the 1st of December, to mark the 100th anniversary of Iceland’s Independence from the Kingdom of Denmark. Until 1944, Iceland remained in a Federation with Denmark as ‘the Kingdom of Iceland’ (the Queen received the Icelandic name of Þórhildur when she was born in 1940), when it declared itself a Republic. The Danish Royal Family hosted the President and First Lady last year and attended a Concert to mark the Centenary in October. Continue reading
