Spanish State Visit to Denmark, 1980

There has been some talk that King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain will be undertaking a State Visit to Denmark sometime this year, and thus we are taking a look at the last Spanish State Visit to Denmark on this day in 1980, following the Spanish State Visit to the Netherlands.

Following an Official Welcome and Carriage Procession, Private Luncheon, and a visit to a school, Queen Margrethe (wearing the Pearl Poiré Tiara and Order of Charles III) and Prince Henrik (in the Order of Charles III) hosted a grand State Banquet at Christiansborg Palace in honour of King Juan Carlos (wearing the Order of the Elephant and the Order of the Golden Fleece) and Queen Sofia (in the Mellerio Shell Tiara and the Order of the Elephant), followed by a Gala Performance at the Royal Danish Theatre which was also attended by Queen Ingrid (wearing the Ruby Parure Tiara and Order of Isabella the Catholic), Princess Benedikte (in the Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg Fringe Tiara and the Order of Isabella the Catholic), and Prince Richard of of Sayn-Wittgenstein-Berleburg (wearing the Order of Isabella the Catholic).
