There are four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Queen at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others. King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting Governor General Sir Peter and Lady Cosgrove of Australia on a State Visit to Belgium from June 27th to 30th, at the invitation of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. The Governor General is the acting Australian Head of State and serves as the Federal Viceregal representative of the Queen of Australia, Queen Elizabeth II. Continue reading
The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, hosted a ceremony and reception to present Awards to the 2018 Queen’s Young Leaders at Buckingham Palace on June 26th. The Queen’s Young Leaders Programme celebrates the achievements of inspiring young people from across the Commonwealth who are dedicated to driving change in their communities. The Queen was 26 years old when she became Head of the Commonwealth in 1952. This five year programme was launched in 2014 in honour of Her Majesty’s lifetime of service to the Commonwealth – a global network of 52 countries and 2.2 billion people, of whom 60 % are under 30 years old. In April, the Duke of Sussex was appointed a Commonwealth Youth Ambassador by the Queen. Continue reading
The Duke of Cambridge is on an important visit to Jordan, Israel, and the Occupied Palestinian Territories from June 24th to 27th. We will be covering each of the the countries together rather than each individual day.
