Norwegian State Visit to Denmark, 1958 

The Danish Royal Family hosted their first cousin, King Olav V, and Princess Astrid of Norway on their State Visit to Denmark on this day in 1958, 65 years ago, which was the first State Visit of King Olav’s Reign. The Danish and Norwegian Royal Families have had a very close relationship for over a century, ever since Prince Carl of Denmark, the father of King Olav, was elected King Haakon VII of Norway in 1905!

Japanese State Visit to Belgium, 1993

The Belgian Royal Family hosted Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko of Japan on their Official Visit to Belgium on this day in 1993, 30 years ago, on their massive Tour of Europe just weeks after their visit to Belgium for the Funeral of King Baudouin of Belgium. The previous Japanese State Visit to Belgium was in 1971 while the next Belgian State Visit to Japan was in 1996, with the latest Belgian State Visit to Japan in 2016.
