Royal Ascot 2022 | Day 1

It’s that time of year again! The British Royal Family attended the first day of races at the Ascot Racecourse on June 18th. Royal Ascot is a permanent fixture on the British Royal Family’s June calendar. The Queen has attended all five days of the horse-racing event since 1953, though she was only present for one day in 2021 and so far not present this year. Order of the Garter Service 2022

The British Royal Family attended the Service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 17th. The oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, the Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded by King Edward III in 1348, and is limited to the Sovereign, the Prince of Wales and 24 members as well as members of the Royal Family, known as Royal Knights and Ladies, and Foreign Sovereigns, known as Stranger (or Extra) Knights and Ladies. Trooping the Colour 2022

Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 2nd, launching the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend Festivities. They rode on horses and in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a RAF Flypast from the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Duke of Cambridge presided over the Colonel’s Review of the Irish Guards last week.

Garden Party at Buckingham Palace

The Prince of Wales hosted the first annual Garden Party of 2022 at Buckingham Palace on May 11th, for the first time since 2019. There are usually four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others, though the Queen has announced in advance that she will not be attending any of the Garden Parties this year.
