Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 2nd, launching the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend Festivities. They rode on horses and in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a RAF Flypast from the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Duke of Cambridge presided over the Colonel’s Review of the Irish Guards last week.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cambridge, Princess Royal rode on Horseback, while the Duchess of Cornwall, Duchess of Cambridge, Earl and Countess of Wessex, Lady Louise and Lord Severn, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were in carriages as they rode down the Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, where they joined other members of the Royal Family to watch the parade from the Major General’s office.

The Prince of Wales will took the salute and inspect the troops of the Household Division on the Queen’s behalf, joined by the Duke of Cambridge and the Princess Royal. This year, the 1st Battalion of the Irish Guards ‘trooped’ their colour. Upon the return of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment and the Guards, the Queen (wearing her Brigade of Guards Brooch) took the salute from the balcony of Buckingham Palace, accompanied by the Duke of Kent, Colonel, Scots Guards.

Around an hour later, the Royal Family appeared on the famous balcony of Buckingham Palace for the Royal Air Force Flypast. They retreated inside after the flypast was over, signalling the end of the Trooping the Colour.
