Order of the Garter Service 2022

The British Royal Family attended the Service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 17th. The oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, the Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded by King Edward III in 1348, and is limited to the Sovereign, the Prince of Wales and 24 members as well as members of the Royal Family, known as Royal Knights and Ladies, and Foreign Sovereigns, known as Stranger (or Extra) Knights and Ladies. The last Service of the Order was held in 2019.

Ahead of the service, a Lady Companion, The Baroness Amos, and a Knight Companion, Sir Tony Blair, along with a Royal Lady of the Garter, the Duchess of Cornwall, were invested with the Order’s insignia by the Queen (wearing the Sash and Star of the Order of the Garter with Queen Victoria’s Bow Brooch) in a private Investiture in the Garter Throne Room.
