The Princess Royal and Sir Timothy Laurence and the Earl and Countess of Wessex and Forfar joined the Prince of Wales (Duke of Rothesay in Scotland) at the Garden Party for 8,000 guests in the grounds of the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh, during the annual Holyrood Week. The members of the royal family stood for the national anthem before meeting the guests. There are usually four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyroodhouse for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others, though the Queen announced in advance that she will not be attending any of the Garden Parties this year, despite being in Residence at the Palace.
