Royal Ascot 2022 | Day 1
It’s that time of year again! The British Royal Family attended the first day of races at the Ascot Racecourse on June 18th. Royal Ascot is a permanent fixture on the British Royal Family’s June calendar. The Queen has attended all five days of the horse-racing event since 1953, though she was only present for one day in 2021 and so far not present this year. Order of the Garter Service 2022
The British Royal Family attended the Service for the Most Noble Order of the Garter at St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle on June 17th. The oldest and most senior Order of Chivalry in Britain, the Most Noble Order of the Garter was founded by King Edward III in 1348, and is limited to the Sovereign, the Prince of Wales and 24 members as well as members of the Royal Family, known as Royal Knights and Ladies, and Foreign Sovereigns, known as Stranger (or Extra) Knights and Ladies. Trooping the Colour 2022
Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 2nd, launching the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend Festivities. They rode on horses and in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a RAF Flypast from the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. The Duke of Cambridge presided over the Colonel’s Review of the Irish Guards last week.
Garden Party at Buckingham Palace
The Earl and Countess of Wessex, Princess Beatrice, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester joined the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they hosted the third and last annual Garden Party of 2022 at Buckingham Palace on May 25th, following the Garden Party on May 11th and on May 18th. There are usually four annual Garden Parties hosted by the Royal Family at Buckingham Palace and the Palace of Holyrood House for around 30,000 guests yearly, as well as a few special others, though the Queen has announced in advance that she will not be attending any of the Garden Parties this year. Royal Windsor Horse Show 2022
The Royal Windsor Horse Show is a horse show held annually since 1943 for five days in May or June in Windsor Home Park. The show is the only one in the United Kingdom to host international competition for dressage, show jumping, carriage driving and endurance riding, and every year, the Queen and members of the Royal Family are present, though this year, there will also be the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee: A Gallop Through History on the final day. Duke of Edinburgh’s Memorial Service at Westminster Abbey
Royal Families from around the world joined the British Royal Family for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Memorial Service at Westminster Abbey on March 29th, to celebrate the life and legacy of the extraordinary public figure that was HRH Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, after his Funeral last April had to be modified due to the Pandemic.
