Royal Tiaras- March 2017

Spring heralds the start of State Visit Season, and as all Royal Watchers know, that means glittering state banquets, with heirloom tiaras and stunning jewels sparkling on Royal ladies at the State Banquet. March 2017 did not disappoint in the tiara department, bringing us four banquets with Royal Tiaras from five countries. Belgian State Visit to Denmark- Day 2

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 3-day State Visit to Denmark, from March 28th to 30th, where they are hosted by the Queen Margrethe of Denmark. On Day 2, King Philippe had a series of engagements with Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, while Queen Mathilde was joined by Crown Princess Mary. In the evening, the Belgian King and Queen hosted a return dinner for their Danish hosts. Continue reading

Belgian State Visit to Denmark

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a 3-day State Visit to Denmark, from March 28th to 31st, where they are hosted by the Queen Margrethe of Denmark. On Day 1, the King and Queen were welcomed by the Danish Royal Family at the airport, attended the Official Welcome, met with officials, and went on a boat tour through Copenhagen Harbour. In the evening, Queen Margrethe hosted a State Banquet at Christiansborg Palace in honour of her guests. Continue reading

Belgian Royal Tiaras

Happy Birthday to Queen Mathilde of Belgium, who turns 44 today. The daughter of Belgian and Polish Nobility, Mathilde married Prince Philippe, Duke of Brabant (then heir to the Belgian throne) in 1999. The couple have four children, and succeeded to the Belgian Throne in 2014, after the abdication of her father-in-law, King Albert II. Queen Mathilde carries out official duties, representing Belgium at home and abroad, and is patron to many charities and organisations. In honour of her birthday today, we will feature the Belgian Royal Tiaras. Continue reading

Royal Tiaras 2016

As part of our Year in review series, we take a look at the the Royal Tiaras of 2016. With the grand 70th Birthday celebrations of King Carl XVI Gustav to the guests at the Albanian Royal Wedding in October, this year has been filled with Royal Tiaras. Here we will look at the Tiaras from each country. This is by no means a comprehensive list, as we haven’t covered Japan or exiled royal families, but it includes events we have covered on this blog. Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands- Day 3

On Day 3, November 30th, of the Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands, Queen Mathilde of Belgium and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands traveled to Utrecht, Queen Mathilde also traveled to Veghel. King Philippe visted Eindhoven. The State Visit ended at Heeze Castle, where a Minister took leave of the King and Queen of the Belgians on behalf of the Dutch government. Continue reading

Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands- Day 2

On Day 2, November 29th, of the Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands, King Philippe of Belgium visited ESA/ESTEC, met with the Presidents of the Dutch Senate and of the House of Representatives, as well Dutch Prime Minister Rutte. He was joined by King Willem-Alexander, Queen Máxima and Queen Mathilde for lunch, and afterwards attended an event with King Willem-Alexander, while Queen Mathilde and Queen Máxima visited the Cobra Museum in Amstelveen. In the evening the King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a Gala concert at the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ. Belgian State Visit to the Netherlands

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are on a three-day State Visit to the Netherlands, where they are hosted by King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. On the first day of their visit, November 28th, they Belgian monarchs attended an Official Welcome, and with their Dutch counterparts, attended a reception, signed a treaty, visited a cultural center, and attended conferences. In the evening, a State Banquet was held at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Continue reading
