Thai Diamond Corsage

Today marks the Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Sirikit of Thailand, who was born on this day in 1932! The glamorous Princess was the popular Thai Queen and cultural icon for almost seven decades and the world’s longest-serving Queen Consort, Queen Sirikit had an incredible jewellery collection, which included this magnificent Diamond Corsage!

A spectacular antique Diamond Corsage with a large central diamond surrounded by a scrolled frame and several diamond pendants. The exact origin of this jewel is unknown but it is among the 19th century jewels of the House of Chakri.

During their iconic Tour of Europe in 1960, Queen Sirikit wore the Diamond Corsage as an Aigrette Tiara with her Diamond Fringe and Diamond Rivière.

Queen Sirikit also seems to have worn the Diamond Corsage as a Tiara for a Gala Performance in Bangkok in the early 1960s.

Shortly afterwards, the Diamond Corsage began to by worn by Queen Sirikit as a Brooch with her Diamond Tiara and Diamond Fringe on the Thai State Visit to Japan in 1963 and also the Dutch State Visit to Thailand in 1963.

Queen Sirikit continued to wear the grand Diamond Corsage from the late 1960s into the early 1970s, often with the her Thai Tiara or her Diamond Tiara, including for the Iranian State Visit to Thailand in 1968.
