Thai State Visit to Japan, 1963

The Japanese Imperial Family hosted King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand on their State Visit to Japan on this day in 1963, which came ahead of Crown Prince Akihito and Crown Princess Michikos visit to Thailand in 1964.

The State Visit began when King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit of Thailand were received by Emperor Hirohito and Empress Nagako at Henna Airport, followed by an Official Welcome at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo.

That evening, the the Emperor and Empress (in the Meiji Scroll Tiara and the Order of the Royal House of Chakri) hosted a spectacular State Banquet in honour for the King and Queen (wearing her Diamond Tiara, Diamond Fringe Necklace, Diamond Earrings, Bracelets and the Order of the Precious Crown)  at the Imperial Palace.

King Bhumibol Adulyadej and Queen Sirikit (wearing her Thai Tiara) also hosted a Return Banquet for the Emperor and Empress (in the Imperial Chrysanthemum Tiara) to mark the end of the State Visit.
