The Princess of Asturias joined King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain as they presided over the traditional Pascua Militar Ceremony at the Royal Palace of Madrid on January 6th. Pascua Militar marks the beginning of the military year and a Spanish National holiday; Epiphany.
The day began with the New Year’s Military Parade outside the Royal Palace of Madrid, where, after the National Anthem and a 21 gun salute, King Felipe VI reviewed the Royal Guard observed by Queen Letizia and the Princess of Asturias.
Later, the King and Queen hosted Reception for officials from the Government, the Ministry of Defence, and the Civil Guard in the Saleta de Gasparini, and King Felipe presented honours in the Salón del Trono of the Palace, which was followed by a Speech.
King Felipe wore the Lieutenant Colonel Uniform with the Neck Badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece, the Sash of the Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild and the stars of his other honours. The Princess of Asturias wore Air Force Uniform with the Badge of the Order of the Golden Fleece and the Sash of the Order of Charles III.
