Happy Birthday to Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, who turns 48 today! The once controversial single mother set to be the future Queen of Norway, who is now suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, to mark the day, we are featuring her splendid Diamond Bracelet:
Consisting of a dense, diamond-packed motif, in modern cuts of diamonds, the bracelet is of an unknown provenance but given its contemporary design, the bracelet was likely a gift or acquired by Crown Princess Mette-Marit, possibly ahead of her 40th Birthday.
One of the earlier appearences of the diamond bracelet came in 2012, when it was worn at the Wedding Gala of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy at the Grand Ducal Palace, on the eve of the Wedding.
The following year, Crown Princess Mette-Marit wore the bracelet with the Diamond Daisy Bandeau for Queen Beatrix’s Abdication Dinner and King Willem-Alexander’s Inauguration Gala the following evening. Similarly the diamond bracelet was worn at the Gala Dinner on the eve and at the Wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in 2015.
In more recent years, Crown Princess Mette-Marit took her diamond bracelet back to Sweden, for the Christening of her godson, Prince Oscar, in 2016 and then to Denmark for Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th Birthday Gala Dinner at Christiansborg Palace in 2018. Later that year, it was also worn at the Nobel Peace Prize Banquet. Given its timeless design, there is no doubt we will continue to see this bracelet for years to come!
