Swedish State Visit to Norway, 1993

King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway hosted King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden on their State Visit to Norway on this day in 1992, which was King Carl Gustaf’s second State Visit to Norway and the second incoming State Visit of King Harald’s Reign,  after the Danish State Visit to Norway.

Following an Official Welcome Ceremony and a Luncheon, the Norwegian Royal Family King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia on the Balcony of the Royal Palace of Oslo.

The highlight of the State Visit was the spectacular State Banquet hosted by King Harald (in the Order of the Seraphim) and Queen Sonja (wearing Queen Maud’s Pearl Tiara) in honour of King Carl XVI Gustaf (in the Order of St. Olav) and Queen Silvia (wearing Queen Sofia’s 9-Prong Tiara) at the Royal Palace of Oslo, at which both the Kings gave Speeches.

Crown Prince Haakon, Princess Märtha Louise (wearing King Olav’s Gift Tiara and her Moonstone Suite), Princess Ragnhild (in Queen Maud’s Diamond Tiara) and Princess Astrid (wearing Queen Alexandra’s Turquoise Circlet) were also present. 

There was also another Banquet, possibly a Return Banquet hosted by King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia (wearing the Leuchtenberg Sapphire Parure) in honour of King Harald and Queen Sonja (wearing the Norwegian Emerald Parure) in Oslo, which was also attended by Princess Märtha Louise (in Queen Alexandra’s Diamond Circlet), Princess Ragnhild (wearing the Boucheron Pearl Circle Tiara) and Princess Astrid (in the Vasa Tiara).
