Swiss State Visit to Belgium

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting the President of the Swiss Confederation, Ignazio Cassis, and First Lady Paola Rodoni Cassis on a State Visit to Belgium on November 24th, at the invitation of the Belgian Government to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties.

 

In the morning, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde welcomed President Ignazio Cassis and  First Lady Paola Rodoni Cassis in an Official Welcome Ceremony at the Place des Palais (Paleizenplein) in Brussels, followed by an audience inside the Royal palace of Brussels.

Later, the King and Queen joined the President and First Lady for a visit to the Music Instruments Museum in Brussels, viewing a recital by Rutger Mathys and Elias D’Hooghe.

In the evening, King Philippe and Queen Mathilde hosted a State Banquet in honour of President Ignazio Cassis and the First Lady at the Royal Castle of Laeken. Both the King and President gave speeches.

 

King Philippe wore White Tie with the Sash and Star of the Order of Leopold. and Queen Mathilde wore a repeated Armani Privé Gown with the Laurel Wreath Tiara, her Diamond Fringe Earrings and the Sash and Star of the Order of Leopold.
