Queen Mathilde’s Diamond Fringe Earrings

Happy Birthday to Queen Mathilde of Belgium, who turns 46 today! With one of the smallest jewellery collections among her European counterparts, Queen Mathilde is frequently seen in just a few limited pieces, including her two pairs of Diamond Fringe Earrings, which we are featuring today.

Featuring a diamond semi-circle ‘e’ with five diamond fringes, Queen Mathilde has been wearing these Art Deco Fringe Earrings for daytime, gala, and evening events since 2012, most notably at Queen Beatrix’s Abdication Dinner, the Inauguration of King Willem-Alexander, and the Belgian State Visit to The Netherlands. Given that her eldest daughter, Princess Elisabeth, the Duchess of Brabant will be celebrating her 18th birthday this year, these earrings would be a perfect gift from her mother.

At the Return Concert during their State Visit to Denmark in 2017, Queen Mathilde wore these retro fringe earrings featuring a diamond swag with three fringe drops, which have become a favourite and have been since worn on their State Visit to India, State Visit to Canada, State Visit from France, King Harald and Queen Sonja’s 80th Birthday Gala, Crown Prince Frederik’s 50th Birthday Gala, and her latest Official Portraits.

  1. These earrings are absolutely gorgeous. They look marvelous on Queen Mathilde, especially with the dark dress she wore during the French state visit.
