Wedding of Princess Maria Laura of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este

Princess Maria Laura of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este, daughter of Prince Lorenz, Archduke of Austria-Este and Princess Astrid of Belgium, married William Isvy at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels on September 10th, following a Civil Ceremony at the Brussels City Hall.

The day began with the Civil Ceremony at 11:00 am at the Brussels City Hall, which was a private Ceremony with only 35 Guests, conducted in French, Dutch, German and English. The witnesses were her sisters, Princess Luisa and Princess Laetitia, and his brother and sister.

In the afternoon, there was a 75 minute Catholic Ceremony with with Jewish Worship Elements, as well as an additional prayer for the death of Queen Elizabeth II, at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. Her niece and nephew, Archduchess Anna Astrid and Archduke Maximilian, were the bridesmaid and pageboy, along with Maria-Thereza Droste zu Vischering von Nesselrode, Alvaro de Orleans-Borbon, Aurora and Eulalia Peters. The witnesses were Princess Elisabetta of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este, Princess Napoleon, Prince Josef-Emmanuel and Princess Marie-Astrid of Liechtenstein, and Ferdinand Brunet.

The 500 guests included the bride’s grandparents; King Albert II and Queen Paola, uncles and aunts; King Philippe and Queen Mathilde, Prince Laurent and Princess Claire, and Princess Delphine, alongside numerous members of the Belgian, Austrian, Luxembourg, and Liechtenstein Royal Families, as well as Royal and Noble Families from around Europe in attendance.

The parents of the bride, Prince Lorenz, Archduke of Austria-Este and Princess Astrid of Belgium, gave a Press Conference at the at the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula in Brussels, where they themselves got married in 1984, revealing many of the details and commenting on the couple and their relationship:

My husband and I are very excited for our daughter. I might be moved. But it’s a huge event for us, as it was with Amedeo’s wedding.”
