It’s that time of year again! For the next few days leading up to the New Year, we will have a series of ‘Year in Review’ articles, compiling and featuring the Royal highlights of 2018. While the (quite rare) White Tie and Tiara events get a lot of attention, the (more frequent) Gala or Black Tie events are usually forgotten. Today we are taking a look at a roundup of the Royal Black Tie and Gala events of 2018!

Danish-UK Association Gala Dinner
Number one gown in my opinion was the Duchess of Cambridge embroidered blush maternity gown. She really looked wonderful regardless of her pregnancy. Number two for me was Queen Elizabeth’s vibrant, colorful gown at the Aga Khan’s Diamond Jubilee dinner. She looked absolutely marvelous! I didn’t miss her usual white or beige formal gown at all. And to round up the top three I would say CP Victoria in her very elegant off the shoulders black gown she wore at the Sverigemiddag. She models for us the wise adage, you can’t go wrong in a beautiful black dress! TBH, almost all of the dresses were very nice. The one exception for me would be the Duchess of Sussex’ black and white gown she wore at the Royal Variety Performance. I think the dress would improve by giving some width to the teeny tine straps or getting rid of them altogether and just let it be a strapless gown.
