On October 23rd, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled by charter flight to Fiji’s capital of Suva, where they were greeted by a Guard of Honour at the airport, before calling on the President of Fiji at Borron House and attending the official Veirqaraqaravi Vakavanua welcome ceremony at the Albert Park, similar to one attended by the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1953. It involved a number of traditional elements, including dance performances, the presentation of the Tabua, and a Kava ceremony.

Afterwards, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled from Albert Park to the Grand Pacific Hotel, where they waved to well wishers from the balcony, like the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh in 1953, ahead of a Reception and a State Dinner hosted by the President of Fiji, at which the Duke gave a speech.

The Duchess wore a white Zimmerman dress, a Stephen Jones hat, the Queen’s Pearl Wedding Gift Earrings, and a bracelet that was a gift from the Prince of Wales. At the Dinner, the Duke wore Black Tie with his Medals and the Star of the Royal Victorian Order. The Duchess wore the Safiyaa ‘Ginkgo’ gown with loaned diamond chandelier earrings.
