King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima in Germany

King Willem Alexander and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands were on a four-day visit to the German States of Thuringia, Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt from February 7th to the 10th. The purpose of the visit was to deepen trade and investment relations celebrate the states history and social development including the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, the Second World War and the reunification of Germany. Queen’s Sapphires

Happy Sapphire Jubilee to Queen Elizabeth II, who became Queen on this day in 1952, upon the death of her father, King George VI. The Queen will mark the day privately, as she tends to remember the loss of her father rather celebrate than her own accession.
