Trooping the Colour 2018
Members of the British Royal family celebrated the Queen’s Official Birthday by attending the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony in London on June 9th. They rode in carriages to inspect the guards at Horse Guards Parade and then watched a flypast on the Balcony of Buckingham Palace. This was the first year that the Duke of Edinburgh was not present. Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting 2018
The Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, and members of the Royal Family hosted the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Formal Opening, Reception, and Queen’s Dinner at Buckingham Palace on April 19th. Many expect this to be the Queen’s last CHOGM, as she stopped long-haul travel, and CHOGM is held in a different Commonwealth country every two years. Evolving from the annual Commonwealth Prime Minister’s Conference, the Queen first attended CHOGM in 1973, and despite having no role in the proceedings, the events hosted by the Queen are the highlights of the Meeting. Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey 2018
Members of the British Royal Family attended the Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey on March 12th, Commonwealth Day.
