Yesterday, the Beau Monde and I went to Sotheby’s to see their Platinum Jubilee Exhibition: ‘Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras’, in which over 40 outstanding tiaras of Royal and Noble Provenance are displayed, alongside tiaras from contemporary British jewellers! Finnish State Visit to Sweden

The Swedish Royal Family hosting President Sauli Niinistö and First Lady Jenni Haukio of Finland, who are on a State Visit to Sweden from May 17th to the 19th, to celebrate and build diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties. King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia last made a State Visit to Finland in 2015, while the last Finnish State Visit was in 2012.

Today marks the Anniversary of the Birth of Crown Princess Cecilie of Prussia, who was passed away on this day in 1954! Daughter of the Grand Duke and Duchess of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, she married the German Crown Prince Wilhelm, in 1905. The couple had four sons and two daughters, though the marriage was very unhappy, ending up in separation. Queen Victoria Eugenie’s Cartier Garland Bandeau

Today marks the Anniversary of the Death of Queen Victoria Eugenie of Spain, who died on this day in 1969! Queen Ena had a splendid jewellery collection, full of family heirlooms and contemporary acquisitions and commissions.
