Prince Joachim of Denmark’s Children lose Princely Titles

The Danish Royal Court has released a Statement that from January 1st, 2023, the four children of Prince Joachim of Denmark, younger son of Queen Margrethe II, can only use their titles of Count and Countess of Monpezat, as their previous titles as Prince and Princess of Denmark will lapse. Thus, Prince Nikolai, Prince Felix, Prince Henrik, and Princess Athena are now titled Count Nikolai, Count Felix, Count Henrik, and Countess Athena of Monpezat. Queen Elizabeth II’s Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle

Foreign Royal Guests and Relatives joined the British Royal Family for the Committal Service for Queen Elizabeth II at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle on September 19th, following the Funeral at Westminster Abbey and a Procession through London. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, had been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week.   Continue reading →

Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

Foreign Royal Guests and Relatives and Heads of State and Representatives of 121 Countries joined the British Royal Family for the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on September 19th, followed by a Procession to Marble Arch and a Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, had been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week.

Heads of State Reception at Buckingham Palace

Ahead of the Funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey tomorrow, the British Royal Family hosted a Reception for visiting Heads of State and Representatives at Buckingham Palace, which is stated to be one of the largest gatherings of Heads of State in History. The late Queen, who passed away at Balmoral Castle earlier this month, has been Lying-in-State first at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh and then at Westminster Hall in London for the past week, with the Funeral at Westminster Abbey tomorrow to be followed by a Procession to Marble Arch and a Committal Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. Danish Emerald Parure

Today marks the 205th Anniversary of the Birth of Queen Louise of Denmark, who was born on this day in 1817! The Hesse Princess with strong Danish Ties, she married her second cousin and through political manoeuvring became the Danish King and Queen, she is kown as the ‘Mother-in-Law of Europe’ through the marriages of her children, who sat on the thrones of Denmark, Greece, Russia, and the United Kingdom. Queen Louise had a notoriously small Jewellery Collection, so today we are featuring one of the few Jewels she had in her possession: The Danish Crown Emerald Parure!

A Queen’s Jewellery Box

There were a series of spectacular events originally scheduled to mark the Golden Jubilee of Queen Margrethe II of Denmark this month, and while most of the events have been rescheduled for late summer, the opening of the splendid exhibition ‘A Queen’s Jewelry Box/En Dronnings Smykkeskrin‘ at the Amalienborg Palace Museum has gone ahead after a week’s delay. The exhibition was one of the main reasons I had scheduled to go to Copenhagen for the Jubilee, and while I will likely go see it sometime in the summer, my Danish friend, Kasper Wiigh, has already paid a couple of visits, and much to my delight, agreed to share his experience with us!
