Yesterday, the British Royal Family celebrated the Wedding of Peter Phillips and Harriet Sperling at the All Saints Church in Kemble, and while the bride didn’t wear a Tiara from Princess Anne’s collection, she did wear this striking Pragnell Tiara, which has several royal links!
The Engagement Ring had been acquired at Pragnell, so Harriet Sperling again turned to them and wore the Edwardian Pearl and Diamond Pragnell Tiara, which is an heirloom of the Pragnell Family, a sixth-generation British family behind the renowned luxury jewelry and timepiece company.
Composed of delicate swags of diamonds suspended from a row of diamond greek keys, which are topped with pearls, the exact origin of this piece has not been made public but it dates from the late Edwardian period.
This intricate tiara dazzles the eye by showcasing a design typical of both the Edwardian and Deco periods – which is very rare in all jewellery. Diamonds highlight a festoon of glittering laurel leaves and articulated floral motifs, bearing great resemblance to the tiara owned by The Princess Royal, in the official photograph celebrating her fiftieth birthday in 2000.
Favoured as a bridal headpiece and owned by the Pragnell family, this delicate tiara has been worn by generations of Pragnell family members and was present at the Coronation of both King George VI and Queen Elizabeth II.
Along with the Pragnell Tiara, Harriet Sperling also wore a pair of Pearl and Diamond Earrings from Pragnell, which also coordinated with her Engagement Ring, which had been acquired at Pragnell as well.
Another royal link comes through the acquisition by Pragnell of the prestigious jewellery house of Philip Antrobus, who notably created the late Queen’s Engagement Ring and Wedding Gift Bracelet.
