Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco are hosting Pope Leo XIV on a historic one-day visit to the Principality of Monaco on March 28th, which is the first Papal visit to the Principality in nearly 500 years.
Pope Leo XIV were received by Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene at the Monaco Heliport before an Official Welcome Ceremony in the Courtyard of the Palais du Prince. Princess Caroline and Princess Stephanie, their children, and respective spouses were also present.
Afterwards, Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene had an Audience with Pope Leo XIV, who presented them with a mosaic of St. Francis of Assisi. The Princely Family also joined the Pope on the Balcony of the Palais du Prince.
The Princely Family also attend the Prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours with the Catholic community at St. Nicholas Cathedral in Monte Carlo, before a Holy Mass and homily presided over by Pope Leo XIV at the Stade Louis II.
Princess Charlene exercised her Privilège du Blanc, the special Papal Privilege that allows certain Catholic Queens and Consorts to wear white in the presence of the Pope.
