The Swedish Royal Family hosted the annual Sverigemiddag (Sweden Dinner) at the Royal Palace of Stockholm on the evening of October 17th. The dinner, first held in 2013, is for all Swedes who have made an important contribution to society, and has been held for the first time since 2023.
Prince Carl Philip joined King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia to greet the guests in the Serafimersalen, after which the Royal Family proceeded to view the concert in the Rikssalen, followed by dinner in the Festvåningen.
Invited guests to today’s Sweden dinner were representatives from cultural life, business, healthcare, education, sports and associations from Sweden’s 21 counties, as well as the country’s governors.
The approximately 180 guests were received and welcomed by The King and Queen and Prince Carl Philip in Lovisa Ulrika’s dining room in the Bernadotte Apartment at the Royal Palace.
While the guests then made their way upstairs to the Banqueting Hall, a serenade ensemble from the Army Band performed in the Eastern Staircase. Guests were treated to, among other things, The Petite Symphonie by Charles Gounod.
The napkins were woven in Switzerland in 1990 at the Scheitling & Borner weaving mill. The pattern consists of a beautiful leaf ornament surrounding the King and Queen’s monogram.
The tableware consisted of gifts from the Riksdag and government for the King’s 50th birthday. The porcelain comes from Hackman-Rörstrand Gustafsberg and was designed by Karin Björquist.
The King had Kronoberg County Governor Maria Arnholm at the table. On his left was Sports Director Anette Norberg.
The Queen had the Governor of Västra Götaland County, Sten Tolgfors, at the table, who also gave the evening’s acceptance speech. On her right was the Queen’s Chief Antiquarian, Samuel Palmblad.
Prince Carl Philip had Norrbotten County Governor Lotta Finstorp at the table. On his left side, the Prince had restaurateur Pernilla Acar Boström.
Queen Silvia wore the Pink Topaz Earrings with King Carl XVI Gustaf’s Portrait Brooch.
