Duchess of Edinburgh’s Aquamarine Tiara

Happy Birthday to the Duchess of Edinburgh, who turns 59 today! The PR Agent who became the late Queen’s favourite daughter-in-law and one of the most hard working members of the Royal Family, the Duchess has worn quite a few royal heirloom, but her main jewels remains her versatile Aquamarine Tiara!

A striking Diamond Tiara that features a massive Aquamarine set within a modern Diamond Scroll Frame, this versatile Tiara was possibly made by G. Collins & Sons, and was likely a gift from Queen Elizabeth II to her favourite daughter-in-law.

The Countess of Wessex debuted the Aquamarine Tiara at the Enthronement Gala of Prince Albert II of Monaco at the Monte Carlo Opera in 2005.

The following year, the Countess wore the Tiara as a Necklace for the ChildLine & Mission Enfance Gala Dinner at the Banqueting House and also for the Queen’s 80th Birthday Dinner at the Ritz in London.

One of the most iconic appearances of the Aquamarine Tiara came in 2015, when the Earl and Countess of Wessex represented the British Royal Family at the Wedding of Prince Carl Philip of Sweden in Stockholm.

In 2017, the Countess of Wessex wore the Aquamarine Tiara at the 80th Birthday Banquet of the King and Queen of Norway at the Royal Palace of Oslo.

Two months later, the Countess wore the Aquamarine Tiara at the State Banquet for the King and Queen of Spain at Buckingham Palace.

Later that year, the Earl and Countess of Wessex represented the British Royal Family at the Sultan of Brunei’s Golden Jubilee Celebrations, with the Countess wearing the Aquamarine Tiara for the Banquet at the Istana Nurul Iman.

Following the pandemic, the Countess of Wessex wore the Aquamarine Tiara for the South African State Banquet at Buckingham Palace, during the first State Visit of the new Reign.

The most recent appearance of the Aquamarine Tiara came just a few weeks ago, when it was worn by the now Duchess of Edinburgh at the State Banquet for the South Korean President and First Lady at Buckingham Palace in November, and there is no doubt we will see it worn for years to come!
