Since the passing of Queen Elizabeth II last week, the new Princess of Wales has been wearing several jewels that originally came from the collection of the late Queen, most prominent among which are the Queen’s ‘Silver Jubilee’ Earrings.

Featuring a round diamond above pearl pendants, these earrings are of unknown provenance and initially appeared during the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations in 1977, and have a similar design to the classic pairs of pearl and diamond earrings the Queen wore daily through her life.

In 2012, the Queen loaned the Silver Jubilee Earrings to her daughter-in-law, the Countess of Wessex, for the Wedding Gala of Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume of Luxembourg and Countess Stephanie de Lannoy.

More recently, the Silver Jubilee Earrings were loaned to the then Duchess of Cambridge in 2016, soon becoming favourites, making appearances on a visit to Canada, in The Netherlands, Christmas at Sandringham, the Easter Service at Windsor, the Birth of Prince Louis, the Royal Festival of Remembrance in 2019 and also Remembrance Sunday 2020.

Since the Queen’s passing earlier this month, the new Princess of Wales has often worn these Earrings, as a special link to the late Queen, with appearances including the return of the Coffin to Buckingham Palace, viewing floral tributes at Sandringham, a visit to Army Training Centre Pirbright, and a Governors General Reception at Buckingham Palace, with the earrings paired with a three-strand pearl necklace and Princess Diana’s Pearl Bracelet, similar to the Queen’s iconic three-strand of pearls daytime look. There is no doubt that we will continue to see these special earrings worn by the Princess of Wales for years to come!
