Dutch State visit to Belgium | Day 2 

King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium are hosting King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of The Netherlands on their State Visit to Belgium from June 20th to the 22nd, which is the latest in the close relationship between the Dutch and Belgian Royal Families over decades.

Day One of the visit consisted of an Official Welcome Ceremony, Ceremonial Engagements and a spectacular State Banquet at the Royal Chateau of Laeken.

 
   

In the morning, both Kings and Queens attended the Climate Tech Forum, visiting an innovation market where Belgian-Dutch cooperation projects were presented and both Kings giving speeches. King Filip and King Willem-Alexander both give a short speech.

  

Afterwards, King Willem-Alexander and King Philippe visited the Aerospacelab in Ottignies-Louvain-la-Neuve, which specialises in satellite data and designs, tests and produces satellites, while Queen Mathilde and Queen Máxima visited the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Waterloo. Both Royal Couples met again for a Luncheon in the orangery of the Chateau of Seneffe, where Belgian and Dutch experts gave presentations on tackling drought and flood risks.

 
 

In the afternoon, both Kings and Queens visited the BioPark Charleroi, where companies and knowledge institutions conduct research in the field of life sciences and work on solutions to challenges in healthcare.  They lay also unveiled a comic strip wall by the Dutch comic artist Dido Drachman and the Belgian comic artist Christian Durieux and then attended a comic book workshop in the Institut Saint-André.

   

In the evening, King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima (wearing her Citrine Pendant) hosted a Return Concert by the Amsterdam Sinfonietta String Orchestrafor King Philippe and Queen Mathilde (wearing her Laurel Wreath Tiara as a Necklace) at the Flagey Building in Brussels.

  1. Queen Mathilde managed to wear three tiaras over two days, Bless her! Both Queens looked fabulous again, both in their complementary day outfits and in their second blingy evening attire. This has been a really fun event – thanks for the coverage, Saad!
